Welcome to the Pheasant Restaurant located in the heart of Co. Down, Northern Ireland. We offer fine dining in our restaurant, great facilities for meetings, small weddings and conferences, we also have a traditional bar where local visitors mingle and soak up the warm, friendly atmosphere.



We have designed and furnished The Pheasant in a gothic style, including hunting mural art and stained glass to harmonise with our secluded, picturesque and tranquil country setting. We offer you a comfortable, relaxing and intriguing environment to dine in.

Our menus are designed to offer the best and freshest of local produce, including game from the neighbouring Larchfield Estate and ingredients and dishes from around the globe. As a sister restaurant to the Award Winning Plough Inn, Hillsborough, naturally seafood is our house speciality all year round. Our other sister restaurant is The Tannery in Moria.

Our aim is to offer something to satisfy everyone’s tastes. Our friendly and attentive staff are here to ensure that you relax and simply enjoy a taste of good olde Irish hospitality. Our Highland Bar and Snug are the ideal places to drop in for a refreshing drink, a meal or enjoy a Cappuccino or even a Macchiato coffee. The restaurant, with its Gothic decor and great food is perfect for a quiet meal or a more exuberant gathering to celebrate a special occasion. Our function rooms caters for parties, weddings, conferences and meetings. We also have a large car park which is suitable for coach party parking




Our Gastro Pub Restaurant takes great pride in serving seasonal produce at realistic prices with game, seafood and the finest Northern Irish products, you will be pleasantly surprised with our attention to detail, it won’t be long before you become a regular.

We maintain a high standard of food and service and are passionate about our Game dishes. In winter we offer Pheasant from our local Larchfield Estate, forest shot wood pigeon, partridge from Ballycastle Estate and venison from Caledon. In summer our chefs create mouth watering Lobster and Seafood dishes in true Gastro Pub style. Specially selected Fruits of the Sea are available all year round.

Terms and Conditions for all promotions

1. The meal deal is run Monday to Saturday from 12-6.30pm and is not available for parties of 8 adults or more.
2. The steak platter is run from Monday to Thursday from 12-9pm and is not available for parties of 8 adults or more.
3. The kids eat free is applicable to children under the age of 12 eating off the kids menu and is run Monday to Thursday from 12-9pm, each child eats for free for every paying adults, ie 4 children and 3 adults pro rata you will be charged for one kids meal. The kids eat free is not available for parties of ten or more.
4. The Sunday lunch menu is available with a two or three course option and can be priced for one course if necessary. The bar snack menu is also available in the bar.  The Sunday evening menu is individually priced
5. The early bird menu is served until 6.30pm Monday to Saturday.

Join the locals in the quaint and relaxing traditional Highlander Bar, with a pint of the black stuff or a hot toddy in front of the open log fire.

The bar and snug offer an extensive snack menu which is available all day. We can also offer the restaurant menus during opening times.

With two large LCD television screens these are great for national rugby, Wimbledon, and televised events throughout the year with promotional events and prizes to be won.

The snug may be reserved and is ideal for meetings, private groups and reserved dining (max 25).
Our outdoor patio area is open throughout the summer serving drinks and a full choice of all our menus, plus a great kids play area with picnic benches.

The Gamekeeper’s Loft can be booked for a private function and is the perfect setting for that special occasion, weddings, parties, quizzes and conferences, with a seating capacity of 90.

We offer a wide selection of menus comprising exquisite dishes from around the world. From a choice of 4 course dinners, a selection of buffet menus to simple finger party nibbles.
